A NEW CONCEPT FOR the Museum am Dom! The Kilianshaus in the heart of Würzburg is undergoing renovation—which is why the MAD is unfortunately temporarily closed. We’re currently developing many ideas to make this possible together! Because we want you to experience art in a deeply personal way—with an open mind, curiosity, and without set expectations. Now and in the future. Even without a permanent museum space and in the midst of renovations, we’re working to create encounters with art that connect, inspire, and simply do you good and nourish the soul.
Together, we want to open up spaces for new perspectives, authentic experiences, and authentic human connection. For example, we plan to bring back the bilder:zeit format, and so much more...

Renovation of the Kilianshaus in 2026 – MAD WILL TEMPORARILY CLOSE
The Kilianshaus, located between the Cathedral and Neumünster, will undergo renovation starting in mid-May 2026. This also means that, unfortunately, NO GUIDED TOURS will be able to take place after this date.
The MAD will then reopen in the renovated Kilianshaus with a new concept. A project group is currently working out the details of the structural and conceptual changes. We’ll keep you informed!
